As a responsible RV owner, you need to ensure that your RV is being taken care of. While you can certainly visit a service shop for help, it’s always good to perform some tasks on your own at home to repair your RV and keep its systems functional. Here are a few things you’ll want to check to maintain your RV.
Check Tires
The tires on your RV should be monitored and aired up regularly. When checking the tire pressure, inspect the tires for sidewall cracks, embedded objects, or balding treads. IF you like, you can even install a tire-pressure monitoring system on your RV to keep watch of your tires for you.
Lubricate Slide-Outs
If your RV has any slide-outs, these can become stiff with regular use and via weather damage. Applying a lubricant to your slide-outs and moving them around to ensure that the tracks are adequately greased will help make sure that the slide-outs move in and out smoothly when you need them to.
Patch Up Leaks
The seals of your RV can wear down with time and require some patching up. The roof can especially become leaky, so make sure that you’re inspecting it regularly and repairing any leaks you find. Leaks around seams or in corners can usually be addressed with some silicone sealant.
